Expeditions for this week

Along with playing Depression Quest and “Introduction to Critical Play,” there are a few more little expeditions you should carry out this week.

  • Sign up for a free WordPress site. (If you already have hosting and a domain, talk to me about alternatives.) For now, you don’t need to do anything with the new site but if you want to start playing with themes or designs feel free to do so.
  • Leave a comment on this post. Put your character name in the name field and the URL for the site you created above in the “website” line on the comment form. If you’d like to receive email notifications whenever a new post is published on this site, check the box underneath the Post Comment button to “Notify me of new posts by email.” In the comment, write a few sentences about your Player Character.
  • Fill out this short survey so that I can get some basic contact information for you and get to know a little bit about you.

Once you have chosen a Player Character name and have created your WordPress site, you’re ready to tackle the first Side Quest: creating an avatar.

  1. My character’s name is Price, who is a character from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare series. He was one of a special operations soldier who fought for justice but realized that he, along with his friends, was manipulated and betrayed for conspiracies. Later all of the operations’ members were killed during the warfare so he sought revenge by eliminating several key people behind the war as to brought justice and peace to people who sacrificed their lives for the chaos.

  2. Renowned intellectual nearing his mid to late 70s. Made his fortune in unknown but likely unsavory ways. Lives alone as a widower but contracts a butler full time to do important tasks such as drawing baths and occasionally lighting his ivory pipe. Responds to Otis, Mr. Moasby, and Big Mo-Mo.

  3. Cleopatra was one of the great rulers of Egypt and her death is always a mystery. She was famous for her ambition and attraction to men (though this is definitely not my case). But that didn’t undermine her wisdom. She also appeared in many video games, such as “Fate/Grand Order” and the series of “Civilization”.

  4. Celia is a monster. Her hair is made out of snakes. She’s like Medusa but with one eye, purple skin, and she’s way more dope. Dates Mike Wazowski, who she loves very much. Occasionally calls him “googley-woogley.” The snakes on her hair all have different personalities, and they have a mind of their own. Is a kind, caring person, but can become very angry if provoked.

  5. My avatar comes from the original star trek series, a show which I’ve been a huge fan of since I was a kid.

James T. Kirk is the captain of the starship Enterprise. He was born in Iowa in the 23rd century and serves in the United Federation of Planets. He leads the Enterprise through the galaxy where he uses his wit, physicality, and reliable crew to outmaneuver various enemies while on a mission to explore new life and new civilizations.

  6. My character name is Jenny. Jenny is the name that I usually use whenever I go to Starbucks, order food, or use Uber. I use this name because no one can really pronounce my actual name correctly. After using it for several years it feels like Jenny is my second name.

  7. The character I have chosen is Curious George. I have loved the books movies and show since I was a kid. This is most likely because of our similarities, such as curiosity and excitement which often lands us in trouble.

  8. Tetris is my favorite game, and I play it online with my friends and with strangers. My username on the Tetris website is mic_happy, which I just made up a year ago without any thought. I guess because mic is the first three letters of my name, and I was happy when I made my Tetris account.

  9. My character is Mario. Mario is a series of fantasy platform games created by Nintendo in which their mascot tries to overcome simple challenges using simple tactics. The plot of the game is simple and I believe is a simulation of life.

  10. Princess Peach is a classic Mario Bros. character and princess of the fictional Mushroom Kingdom. She represents my favorite fruit of peaches, which has only increased since moving to Georgia.

  11. The name of my character is Bad Boss C, this is an alter ego I made up to describe myself and my assertive and can do personality. My character lives in a progressive city, forward in both technology and my character is the head of the people, she is focused on coming up with new trends and inventions to make her city greater. All of her power resides in her mind.

  12. My character’s name is “Moon”. The concept of my avatar revolves around the nickname my dad gave me as a kid: moon. My name is Muna and the first syllable of my name is pronounced “moon”, so, at the time, it just made sense. It’s a nickname that stuck with me all my life, and my close friends and family still call me moon to this day.
